The artworks of Allen Mack show the dualisms present in the world: utopia and dystopia, past and future, man and machines, organic and technology. The artist deals with current problems concerning the condition of the modern world and society. It is a journey led by the inner demon of the artist’s mind, devoted to the distortions of the history of the human species in relation to the currently dominant ideology. To the pathology of the consumer status quo. There are moments when everything seems to be wonderful … In the shadow of the crises that bombard the world, we think intensely about returning to the foundations of life – to local resources, to nature, to cultivating relationships with others, to improvising, also to new sources of magic. We consider the possibilities of the human senses. The pessimistic atmosphere of our times, overshadowed by the ecological catastrophe, the coronavirus, and the war in Ukraine, make rationalism fail and make people helpless. Allen Mack’s art is part of the posthuman movement. It asks what we can learn from plants, animals and the elements. The crisis is an opportunity for change. Change asks for reflection.
